Metropolis Halle, PotsdamThe Bundesvision Song Contest is the brainchild of Stefan Raab, who three times participated for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest: conductor in 1998, singer in 2000 and songwriter in 2004. He has a daily entertainment show on channel 'ProSieben'.
All 16 states of the Federal Republic of Germany are invited to participate. It is an annual event, not in competition with the Eurovision, even though its influence is obvious.
Voting in all 16 states is by telephone and SMS only. All songs are sung at least 50% in German.
